The Agent of Change embodies our mission at Changing Homelessness, Inc.  As an Agent of Change, this person helps the organization move closer towards ending homelessness.


We are pleased to annouce our Fourth Quarter Agent of Change: Vera Brown-Floyd. Vera has been a member of the CHI team since December 2016 and serves as our Client Services Team Lead. After serving 12 years in the U.S. Army she began her career in the non-profit sector by working at the Yates & Johnson Branch YMCA for 10 years as Director of Afterschool Programs.

In 2001, she joined the staff of the YWCA of Jacksonville by serving mothers and children. In 2004, the agency discontinued their relationship with the YWCA and changed their name to Community Connections of Jacksonville. Elevating within the agency Vera became the Director of Housing where she served Homeless Women and Children at the Davis Center until the agency closed their doors in November 2016. Having the passion for serving others is what Vera does as she is involved with many organizations in the State of Florida through her Sorority, Zeta Phi Beta. Vera’s daily focus goal and motto is to strive to make an impact as she Touches One Life at A Time.


We are pleased to announce our Third Quarter Agent of Change: David Augustine. David has been a member of the CHI team since September 2015 and currently serves as our Compliance Team Leader/Grant Manager. A colleague nominated David for demonstrating leadership and teamwork in successfully managing financial aspects of the Functional Zero 2019 Initiative and leading a team.

David retired from the insurance industry after 27 years employed by Prudential and Aetna.  He then worked with Catholic Charities –Refugee Resettlement as an English as a Second Language (ESOL) instructor and provided direct client services under the Housing Opportunities for People with Aids (HOPWA) with the same organization.


We are proud to announce our Second Quarter Agent of Change: Christina King. Christina began working at Changing Homelessness a year and a half ago and greets every day with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She goes above and beyond by demonstrating grace and appreciation while ensuring that even the most difficult tasks get done.

With more than 15+ years working with nonprofits, we are grateful to have her on our team and celebrate her recognition as an Agent of Change.


We are proud to announce our First Quarter Agent of Change: David Sheppard. David began working at Changing Homelessness 2 years ago. With a genuinely kind and compassionate heart, he goes above and beyond to make sure that anyone who walks through our doors is treated with respect and connected to the resources they need.

David’s work history, 32 years in the social service industry, speaks for itself. We are grateful to have him on our team and celebrate his recognition as an Agent of Change.
